Logs on the Road 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

The first design is neat and tidy, but it might work on a tiled floor but not quite right for a bed.

Turn eight blocks around and it becomes a big star.

Back to the first design, but with four blocks moved out towards the corners.

Now they are all the way to the corners.

The final design for today has the four dark blocks from the centre moved towards the corners, and it is my favourite for the day.

That is all for this week’s mid week collection of Log Cabin designs, but there will be more next ...

Logs on the Road 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 from Virtual Quilter

There are just three blocks used in the designs in this project file. Traditional Log Cabin construction is used for all and one of the three is the traditional colouring. The other two use either all light or all dark fabrics.

The second design is very neat. I like it.

The one above is a bit pointy for me.

Finding the right light fabrics to make up these designs would be the biggest challenge.

The last design looks a bit unfinished. I would make eight more traditional Log Cabin blocks and place two of them in the middle of each ...

Logs on the Road 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 from Virtual Quilter

In this project file I am trying to keep the designs simple, by simply using just three variations of the Log Cabin block … the traditional half light and half dark, plus all light and all dark. So far I have 130 designs in total.

In the second design four blocks were turned inside out, and I like the change.

Then I turned eight blocks inside out … interesting.

Like the one above, maybe because it was fun adding and taking away assorted blocks.

I love changing designs, and wonder why so many quilters are happy to make quilts exactly the same ...

Very basic Log Cabin blocks in a not so basic arrangement.

Sixteen blocks turned 180 degrees … love the results!

Interesting, but what about making a bit of a change?

I think I like it more this way, but not a lot more.

Nearly the samr as the first one, but not a nice as the second one!

The gallery below will help you make up your mind which one you like best.

That is all for this week’s mini retreat/coffee break looking at Log Cabin quilt designs … more mid week, next week.

Logs on the Road 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

Today’s designs use basic Log Cabin blocks in not the usual designs.

I rather like the one above.

Interesting.

I really like the one above … my favourite for today.

That is just about all this mid week, except for the group photo.

More log Cabin designs mid week, next week!

Simple but impressive in my view.

All of the designs in this project file are fairly simple, but I like them …

… but I am not too sure that the blank space in the centre of the one above!

I like the dark centre in the one above.

However, I sort of like the white centre in the last design, maybe because it has more dark around it.

No more Log Cabin designs this week, but there will be more next week as usual

I like the first design for this weeks 5 minute retreat from the world around us.

Interesting design above, but I think there is something missing. Too much space for quilting, even for me!

Like the middle design for today … just a slight alteration to the second!

Another interesting one.

I have just spent about twenty minutes playing with designs in this project file, and have saved about twenty new designs. I think I just might have to make another coffee, and then add some more!

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log Cabin design ...
